Welcome Game Runners

Sign Up For Later Months

This form is specifically for game runners who want to schedule more than a month in advance. Be aware, we may need to edit your submission closer to the event as the event evolves. Submissions will be looked over and then added to the schedule.

Now Signing Up for Pickup Con 43, Running 4/26-4/28

Thank you for your interest in TTRPG Pickup Con. This is an unendorsed, transaction-free gaming event for all. Game Runners will sign up to run games in any system, at any level, and over their preferred teleconference service. I will check over your submission and present it to the players on the con’s schedule page.

Players

This event is open to all, and I encourage you to invite people you have played with, people you’ve been meaning to play with, and people who keep bugging you to play alike. You will get a table with a wide variety of players and personalities.* That’s part of the fun. Please also invite your friends who run games. There is plenty of room for everyone!

*If someone is being a jerk, contact the con committee. We will address it with the player and determine if they should be ejected from the event. More information is available on the Safety page of the con's website.

Safety

Please ensure that you run a respectful and safe table. I highly recommend presenting disclaimers in the content warning section below if you anticipate your story including elements that may upset players. Your game is likely to include people who are new to your style. Please play as though you wished for each of them to come back to your table.

Lines and Veils- To assist in maintaining a safe gaming environment, you will receive an anonymized list of lines and veils prior to game time. If one of these topics is essential to your plot, please include this in your pre-game conversations and allow players to privately discuss with you whether they want to stay signed up and how you can make them comfortable.

Please review lines and veils with your table before you begin so that everyone can work together for safety.

The X-card protocol is mandatory. In this setting, this will take the form of typing a capital “X” alone into the chat of your teleconference. If you see this, please interrupt whatever is happening and redirect. Full details of the X Card are available from John Stravapoulos.

My friends at Golden Lasso Games have compiled a fabulous list of resources for TTRPG safety. They include a great brief summary of how to use the x card and lines and veils.

Technical Considerations.

TTRPG Pickup Con allows you to use any teleconference platform you prefer to run your game. We do offer rooms in the Con's Discord server for the purpose to keep things simple and centralized.

Sign-ups are being handled on the Warhorn platform. Your game will be posted on Warhorn under the Con's event and visible to all of the users of that platform.

On sign-up day, the con committee will open up all of our games for sign-up at the same time to keep things fair and prevent people from missing out because they weren't watching like hawks.

Check out this blog post for my tips on running a game over teleconference.
